Upper Falls is an 11-foot, two-drop waterfall on the Ammonoosuc River in Coos County, New Hampshire, within White Mountain National Forest.
The falls
A one-foot cascade separates two roughly five-foot plunges in this tiered fall on the runoff-fed Ammonoosuc River. A field survey puts the total height at 11 feet, up from an earlier 8-foot, single-drop figure.
Getting there
The falls sit beside a wooden footbridge about 2.25 miles along Base Station Road from US 302, within White Mountain National Forest. No official site page, parking fee, permit or 2026 closure notice for the falls has been found.
When to go
Flow is fullest during spring melt.

Multiple deaths have occurred at the falls, and posted warnings mark jumping and the pools as unsafe.
History and name
The waterfall is also called Upper Falls of the Ammonoosuc or Upper Ammonoosuc Falls. Current USGS maps misplace the name about half a mile downstream from the actual falls; older editions show the correct location.
