Ancho Rapid is a stretch of rapids in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, in the Arizona/New Mexico Plateau region. It lies about 4.1 miles south of White Rock and roughly 16.9 miles west of Santa Fe as the crow flies.
The Arizona/New Mexico Plateau is a high, semi-arid tableland of grassland, sagebrush and pinyon-juniper woodland cut by canyons. Waterfalls occur along canyon streams and are strongest during snowmelt and summer monsoon.
It is the only recorded rapid in Santa Fe County.
Ancho Rapid is located at 35.7698° N, 106.2204° W. The listing is based on the USGS Geographic Names Information System, one of the sources compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey in its inventory of waterfalls and rapids of the conterminous United States. The position was verified on aerial imagery. Details on trails, parking and access have not been documented for this rapid yet.
