Haystacks Rapids is a stretch of rapids in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, in the North Central Appalachians region. It lies about 19.5 miles northeast of Hughesville and roughly 42.4 miles west of Scranton as the crow flies.
The North Central Appalachians are a high, forested plateau of hemlock, pine and northern hardwoods in Pennsylvania and New York, deeply cut by river gorges. Tributaries drop into the gorges over sandstone ledges.
It is the only recorded rapid in Sullivan County.
Haystacks Rapids is located at 41.4573° N, 76.4812° W. The listing is based on the USGS Geographic Names Information System, one of the sources compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey in its inventory of waterfalls and rapids of the conterminous United States.
