White Rapids is a Class II+ rapid on the Wolf River in Menominee County, Wisconsin, about 6.7 miles north of Keshena. The river drops over a ledge where it narrows and bends, on Menominee tribal land.
The falls
White Rapids is a Class II+ rapid with a ledge or short, steep drop over boulders and bedrock at a constriction on a bend of the river. It lies in the river stretch between Five Islands and Keshena Falls. The rapid should not be confused with the White Rapids hydroelectric dam on the Menominee River, a different site with a similar name.
Getting there
There is no public access. This entire reach of the Wolf River lies on Menominee tribal land, where non-tribal members may not paddle or walk to the drops. The tribal boating code sets aside permitted whitewater zones on the Wolf that end upstream at Big Smokey Falls, and White Rapids is below that point.
