Bushkill Falls is a 75-foot tiered horsetail waterfall on Little Bush Kill Creek in Pike County, Pennsylvania. It is the main fall of a privately owned park with eight waterfalls in the Pocono Mountains, open to the public since 1904 and billed by its operator as the "Niagara of Pennsylvania."
The falls
The creek pours over shale ledges in two drops, the taller about 62 feet, and its water carries a tea-brown tannin tint. A lidar survey puts the total at about 75 feet. Main Falls is about 100 feet high, with roughly 300 feet of descent from its top to the bottom of the lower gorge.
Getting there
Bushkill Falls is a private, ticketed attraction run by Aramark at 138 Bushkill Falls Trail in Bushkill, near Saw Creek. From September 24, 2026, admission is $24 for adults, $22 for seniors 62 and older and active military, $12 for children 4 to 10, and free for age 3 and under; parking is included and the ticket windows are cashless. The Green Trail reaches the Main Falls view in about 15 minutes. The Red Trail passes all eight falls over more than 2 miles. Both have steps, roots and bridges and are not accessible to wheelchairs or strollers.
When to go
The park is closed from December through March. In the main season it opens at 9 a.m.; in late October and November opening can be later while icy trails are treated. Closing times change with the weather and the posted calendar, so check the day's hours on the park website before driving out.
On site
Entering the water and leaving the marked trails are prohibited, children under 16 must be with an adult, and dogs must stay leashed and attended. In August 2011 a teenager who had walked off the marked trails lost his footing and fell to his death.
History and name
Charles E. Peters opened the falls to visitors in 1904 with a footpath and a swinging bridge. Aramark acquired it in 2023.
