World Waterfall Database classifies the form as a segmented steep cascade. Springs feed the Clearwater River, giving it a relatively consistent flow year-round. Only about 10 feet of the 29-foot total is a genuine vertical drop, with the rest made up of the surrounding mossy cascades along the run.

Clearwater Falls Campground, managed by the Umpqua National Forest, sits off Oregon Highway 138, about 70 miles east of Roseburg, reached by a short entry road; the falls are about 100 feet from the parking area and eight miles east of Toketee Lake. A formally accessible route and public transit are not documented.
