Double Falls is a 184-foot tiered plunge waterfall on Hullt Creek in Silver Falls State Park, Marion County, Oregon. It drops in two plunges, the larger one 141 feet, at the end of a short spur off the Canyon Trail along the Trail of Ten Falls.
The falls
Hullt Creek, a runoff-fed stream, drops in two steps just upstream of its junction with North Silver Creek. The total height reaches 184 feet, combining an upper tier of about 43 feet and a main drop of 141 feet; earlier park publications cited 178 feet. The two-tier formation gives the waterfall its name.
Getting there
The shortest hike starts at the Winter Falls trailhead on Highway 214. The trail descends about half a mile to the Canyon Trail and continues another half mile to the Hullt Creek bridge, where a short spur leads to the base. Park maps also outline a 5-mile Winter Falls loop that passes Double Falls, while the full Trail of Ten Falls loop covers 7.2 miles.
Parking in Silver Falls State Park costs $10 per vehicle for Oregon residents and $12 for nonresidents in 2026; Oregon state park passes and camping receipts are accepted, while federal passes are not. No timed-entry reservation is required. Gates open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. in September, with shorter hours from October through March.
When to go
Strongest flow occurs from November through April; during summer the creek shrinks to a trickle and may dry up. The park warns of ice and snow on trails in winter, while autumn foliage typically peaks in mid-October.
On site
The spur ends at the base of the lower plunge. Double Falls is one of two falls in the park exempt from the rule closing the stream within 300 feet above and below waterfalls; the park's only designated swimming area, unsupervised, is at the South Falls Day-Use Area. Pets are prohibited on the Canyon Trail, and restrooms are situated at the parking areas rather than along the path. Trail guides indicate steep unpaved sections unsuitable for strollers along the Trail of Ten Falls route.
