Hidden Falls is a 20-foot cascade waterfall on Indian Creek in Hanging Rock State Park, Stokes County, North Carolina. It is the first of two waterfalls on the Indian Creek Trail below the park's visitor center, 0.4 mile from the trailhead.
The falls
Indian Creek slides down a steep, stepped rock face here before continuing downstream to Window Falls. Lidar measurements estimate the drop at about 20 feet, though earlier records cited 12 feet and other accounts report 13 feet in three steps. Park descriptions characterize it as a gentle, tiered waterfall.
Getting there
The Indian Creek Trail starts at the visitor center parking lot, 1005 Visitor Center Drive in Westfield. Hidden Falls sits 0.4 mile from the trailhead along a walk rated strenuous, over a natural surface with gravel that is not accessible. The trail crosses Hanging Rock Park Road, so watch for traffic. Window Falls is 0.6 mile from the trailhead, and the full trail runs 3.6 miles one way. There is no day-use fee at Hanging Rock.
When to go
The park's main gate is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. in September, and the park closes on Christmas Day.
