Horsetail Falls is a 50-foot horsetail waterfall on an unnamed seasonal stream in Kittitas County, Washington, about 15.9 miles southwest of Cle Elum, at an elevation of 2,672 feet beside Little Naches River Road.
The falls
The stream is seasonal runoff dropping over basalt, keeping some contact with the rock as it falls in a single horsetail. A survey now shows the total drop at 50 feet; one visitor in June 2022 instead noted nearly 60 feet during a firsthand visit to the site.
Getting there
From Chinook Pass, the route follows Highway 410 east, then turns north onto Little Naches River Road for 0.75 mile to a roadside pullout; no parking fee is listed for the site. The viewpoint sits a few hundred feet from the road.
When to go
The stream flows for about seven months of the year, with March through June the best months for water; by summer it can shrink to a trickle or dry up completely.
