Middle Tumwater Falls is a 10-foot cascade on the Deschutes River in Thurston County, Washington, in Tumwater's Brewery Park.
The falls
The river descends over a steep cascade next to a fish ladder that diverts part of the flow; at lower summer flow, the diversion can make the cascade look diminished. Brewery Park also contains Tumwater Falls and Upper Tumwater Falls, the other two named falls on this stretch of the Deschutes River.
Getting there
The falls sit about halfway around Brewery Park's half-mile walking loop and are visible from both banks. Admission is free.
When to go
The park is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Late August through early October is the salmon-run season.
On site
The park has parking, restrooms, picnic space, and footbridges. Dogs must be leashed, and fishing is prohibited. Swimming rules and any record of incidents at the falls are not documented.
