Nehalem Falls is an 8-foot cascade on the Nehalem River in Tillamook County, Oregon, beside a fish ladder at Nehalem Falls Campground.
The falls
The river drops in a gradual cascade next to a fish ladder that bypasses it. The drop can become submerged when river flow on the Nehalem exceeds about 5,000 cubic feet per second.
Getting there
From Highway 53, Foss Road leads about six miles to Nehalem Falls Campground, then a short trail reaches the falls. The campground has drive-in and walk-in sites, group parking, a day-use area, drinking water, a restroom, a fee station, and a facility trail connecting the sites.
When to go
Winter through spring is rated the best flow. The campground season runs May through October.
On site
A drive-in campsite costs $20 and a walk-in tent site $15 in 2026, and the group site is reservable. Chinook salmon have been seen jumping at the falls. Day-use fees, swimming rules, pet rules, and any incident history here are not documented.
