Getting there
The Obsidian Trailhead reaches the falls area by way of Obsidian Trail 3528, the Pacific Crest Trail, and the Scott Trail. A day-use permit is required from June 15 to October 15, along with a federal recreation pass at the trailhead. Oregon Highway 242, the road serving the trailhead, traditionally opens on the third Monday in June if weather allows, and trails can remain snow-covered into late June.

Motor access to the trailhead normally begins once Highway 242 opens for the season in June, though early-season snow can linger into late June.
