Richland Falls is an 8-foot waterfall on Richland Creek in Newton County, Arkansas, in the Boston Mountains region. It lies about 19.9 miles west of Marshall and roughly 57.2 miles northwest of Conway as the crow flies.
At 8 feet it is one of the lowest falls in the state’s records: of the 110 Arkansas waterfalls with a documented height only 2 are shorter, while the typical Arkansas waterfall stands around 34 feet. By form it is a block waterfall, wider than it is tall, spilling over a broad ledge.
The Boston Mountains are the highest and most rugged part of the Ozarks, deeply dissected sandstone plateaus covered in oak-hickory forest with shortleaf pine. Clear creeks cut narrow hollows with numerous bluff-line waterfalls, at their best in spring.
