Sliding Rock is a slide waterfall on the upper Chattooga River in Jackson County, North Carolina, with a lidar reading putting the drop at no more than 10 feet.
The falls
The river slides down a single, gradual pitch here in one drop. A lidar survey puts the height at no more than 10 feet, short of the minimum a waterfall database requires for its own classification. "Sliding Rock" is a colloquial name, not a formal one.
Getting there
The Norton Mill Creek trailhead reaches the Grimshawes/Sliding Rock Bridge area on the upper Chattooga River by a 1.2-mile trail, with roadside shoulder parking for five to eight vehicles. Bullpen Bridge, nearby, has its own parking and river access.

Warm-weather sunning and low-water swimming holes are found in the Bullpen Bridge area nearby. Supervision, dog rules and any rescue history specific to Sliding Rock itself are not documented.
