Caney Falls is a 15-foot waterfall on Caney Fork in Lawrence County, Kentucky, in the Western Allegheny Plateau region. It lies about 13.1 miles southeast of Grayson and roughly 18.8 miles southwest of Meads as the crow flies.
At 15 feet it is one of the lowest falls in the state’s records: of the 25 Kentucky waterfalls with a documented height only 2 are shorter, while the typical Kentucky waterfall stands around 40 feet.
The Western Allegheny Plateau is a maze of narrow ridges and hollows in mixed oak and hardwood forest, with coal mining and small farms. Waterfalls occur where creeks cross sandstone ledges in the hollows.
