History and name
The community was known as Booneville until 1874, when a traveling salesman proposed renaming it Clinton Falls to honor both the waterfall and Clinton Township. An 1882-83 gazetteer described the settlement on Little Walnut Creek, where the water powered a flour mill and a sawmill.
