Cowley Lake Falls is a 20-foot waterfall in Cowley County, Kansas, in the Flint Hills region. It lies about 13 miles east of Arkansas City and roughly 50.3 miles southeast of Wichita as the crow flies.
At 20 feet it is among the ten tallest of the 15 Kansas waterfalls with a recorded height, ranking 5th. By form it is a dam-created falls, where a man-made structure creates the drop.
The Flint Hills are rolling tallgrass prairie on limestone and shale, one of the last large expanses of native tallgrass in North America. Small streams drop over limestone ledges in shaded valleys.
It is the only recorded waterfall in Cowley County. Osro Falls, 3 feet high, is about 20.2 miles away. Butcher Falls, 15 feet high, is about 29.8 miles away.
