Indian Falls is a waterfall on Marcy Brook in the Adirondacks of Essex County, New York, reached on the trail toward Mount Marcy, about 7.2 miles south of North Elba.
The falls
Marcy Brook drops over bedrock at Indian Falls, with the top of the falls overlooking the MacIntyre Range. The Ausable Freshwater Center describes the drop as nearly 20 feet in its text, though its data panel gives a 25-foot free fall. This Essex County fall on Marcy Brook is a different waterfall from the Niagara County and Genesee County falls also named Indian Falls.
Getting there
The trail begins at the Adirondack Mountain Club's Heart Lake property and follows the route toward Mount Marcy. The round trip is 9 miles with 1,600 feet of elevation gain and is rated difficult, mostly flat to Marcy Dam before climbing steadily. A parking fee applies year-round.
