The water drops vertically as a single 39-foot block into a green pool inside a bowl-shaped canyon.
Getting there
The falls are inside Linn County's McDowell Creek Falls County Park at 43170 McDowell Creek Drive, open year-round. Three miles of trails connect viewing decks, bridges and stairs near the falls, with day-use parking, picnic areas and vault toilets. The park's map grades sections easy, intermediate or difficult, with stairs marked near Majestic Falls. No fee is posted for day use.
When to go
Flow runs year-round, heavier in winter and spring and calmer by summer, with the best flow from November through May.
On site
Viewing decks and bridges line the trail system, and fishing and wading are available in pools below the falls. The route includes stairs and sections graded difficult; wheelchair access to the falls viewpoints is not documented.
History and name
McDowell Creek was named for early settler Jack McDowell. Majestic Falls was probably named for being the biggest of the creek's waterfalls.
