Mist Falls is an 80-foot waterfall in White County, Tennessee, in the Interior Plateau region. It lies about 10.1 miles northwest of Sparta and roughly 44.4 miles east of Murfreesboro as the crow flies.
At 80 feet it stands in the tallest quarter of Tennessee’s 332 waterfalls with a recorded height, ranking 35th; the typical Tennessee waterfall is about 30 feet. By form it is a plunge, where the water drops vertically and loses contact with the rock face.
The Interior Plateau is a rolling limestone landscape of pasture, oak-hickory woodland and cedar glades in Kentucky and Tennessee, riddled with springs, sinkholes and caves. Waterfalls drop over limestone ledges and in karst valleys.
