Mountain Falls is a 100-foot waterfall on Fall Run in Frederick County, Virginia, in the Ridge and Valley region. It lies about 4.7 miles southwest of Shawnee Land and roughly 45.2 miles west of Leesburg as the crow flies.
At 100 feet it is taller than the typical Virginia waterfall of about 69 feet, ranking 17th of 53 with a recorded height. The tallest single drop is 50 feet. By form it is a tiered waterfall, falling in several distinct steps one after another.
The Ridge and Valley is a corridor of long, parallel forested ridges and farmed limestone valleys running the length of the Appalachians. Waterfalls occur where streams cut through resistant sandstone on the ridges.
