Opal Creek runs through the Cascades, a high volcanic range of snow-capped peaks and dense conifer forest that gets abundant rain and snow on its western slopes, giving the region one of the country's highest concentrations of waterfalls. Opal Creek carries three recorded waterfalls along its course, out of 133 recorded in Hood River County. World Waterfall Database's Oregon inventory lists Opal Creek Falls here, in the Columbia Wilderness, but marks the entry unconfirmed, with no height, drop count or description published. This waterfall is distinct from Opal Falls and Opal Pool Falls, a separate namesake pair in the former Opal Creek Wilderness area. Trail access, land ownership and other details for the falls are not documented.
