Popo Agie Falls is a 75-foot segmented cascade on the Middle Fork Popo Agie River in Fremont County, Wyoming, in Shoshone National Forest above Sinks Canyon, southwest of Lander. A Forest Service trail from the Bruce Parking Area leads to an overlook of the falls.
The falls
The river descends about 75 feet across three distinct segments, followed by 300 to 400 feet of steep cascades and a separate lower falls of 25 to 30 feet. An earlier survey listed 120 feet. The main falls sit at about 7,750 feet of elevation.
Getting there
Falls Trail #700 starts at the Bruce Parking Area in Sinks Canyon and follows the Middle Fork to the falls overlook. The hike spans 1.5 miles one way, rated as an easy-to-moderate trail. Alternate trail measurements show 3.3 to 3.4 miles round trip with 600 to 682 feet of gain, taking about two hours. The Bruce Picnic Site at the trailhead is open but has no drinking water, so hikers should carry their own supply.
