Stepmother Cascade is a 470-foot waterfall in Wyoming County, New York, in the Northern Allegheny Plateau region. It lies about 4.8 miles west of Nunda and roughly 42.1 miles southeast of Cheektowaga as the crow flies.
At 470 feet it is among the ten tallest of the 184 New York waterfalls with a recorded height, ranking 3rd. By form it is an ephemeral waterfall that flows only after rain or snowmelt.
The Northern Allegheny Plateau is a dissected upland of rolling hills and deep valleys in New York and Pennsylvania, with northern hardwood forest and dairy farms. Creeks cut through layered shale and sandstone in gorges lined with waterfalls, as in the Finger Lakes glens.
