Beside the Stinson Lake Road bridge in Grafton County, New Hampshire, Brown Brook drops about 35 feet through Stepped Falls, a three-tiered horsetail waterfall.
The falls
Brown Brook comes down in three tiered horsetails, roughly 5, 15 and 15 feet high, over a run of about 90 feet; the widest point measures 45 feet. The brook drains 3.2 square miles of ground that includes marshland, which helps keep water moving through the dry summer months. The height and drop count were last confirmed by an in-person survey in 2008, with the page most recently updated in 2018.
Getting there
The falls sit right beside the road, next to the bridge that carries Stinson Lake Road over Brown Brook, about 3.3 miles west of Ellsworth, and are visible without a hike.
When to go
Flow is estimated at about 10 cubic feet per second for eight months of the year and about 2 cfs for the other four.

Land manager, formal trail access beyond the roadside view, parking, fees and hours, and whether swimming or dogs are allowed, is not documented.
