Upper Falls is a 15-foot waterfall in Hocking Hills State Park, Hocking County, Ohio, on Queer Creek at the head of the Old Man's Cave gorge.
The falls
The falls sit in the Black Hand sandstone gorge at Old Man's Cave. The World Waterfall Database lists the drop, confirmed, at 15 feet; Hocking Hikes, a local trail guide, describes it as roughly 20 feet.
Getting there
The falls sit at the start of the Old Man's Cave trail, part of a route usually described as 1 to 1.5 miles and taking about 1 to 1.5 hours. An accessible path runs more than half a mile from the visitor center to an observation deck at Upper Falls. The park is open dawn to dusk year-round, with no admission fee or reservation currently stated.
When to go
A May 2026 conditions report found spring flow strongest from late April through mid-May, diminishing to a trickle by late July. Rain leaves the dirt trail between Upper and Lower Falls slippery.

Visitors must stay on marked trails; wading and swimming are prohibited, and pets must be leashed. Caution is advised with children around the cliffs and steps.
