Valley Falls is a former waterfall on the Delaware River in Jefferson County, Kansas, about 0.6 miles from the town that took its name from it and roughly 24.1 miles northeast of Topeka, at an elevation of about 891 feet.
The falls
The waterfall is classified as inundated: it no longer exists as a visible drop, and no height or drop count has been published for it. Waterfalls are rare in this part of Kansas; the surrounding Western Corn Belt Plains are gently rolling, intensively farmed former prairie, and the region's few remaining drops sit mostly on limestone ledges along river bluffs.

History and name
Settlers reached the falls, then on the Grasshopper River, in 1854 and used its waterpower to run a mill. The settlement was first named Grasshopper Falls; the river was later renamed the Delaware River, and the town became Valley Falls.
