Yellow Creek Falls is a 95-foot waterfall on Yellow Creek in Cherokee County, Alabama, about 3.7 miles from Leesburg. It spills into the Yellow Creek arm of Weiss Lake, and because the land around it is private, the usual way in is by boat.
The falls
The falls drop 95 feet in two drops, the taller one 85 feet. The North Alabama waterfall brochure and Alabama Recreation Trails still list 100 feet. Below the falls, the creek passes the stone piers of an old railroad trestle.
Getting there
The falls can only be reached by boat because of private property. Paddlers launch at Yellow Creek Fish Camp, whose owners allow use of their ramp; the outfitter suggests buying snacks or drinks there as thanks. Alabama Recreation Trails describes the launch as a ramp near Leesburg on County Road 273. From there it's an easy paddle of about 0.75 mile upstream to the stone trestles, where boats are tied up, followed by a walk of about a quarter mile on an unmarked but obvious path. The site is free and open from sunrise to sunset.

The brochure describes the approach from the water as short and rocky. Alabama Recreation Trails mentions a clear blue swimming hole at the base, and both guides list dogs as allowed. In June 2021 a man suffered a head injury in a fall at the falls; Leesburg firefighters and a rescue squad carried him out to an ambulance.
