Bean Shoals is a stretch of rapids in Yadkin County, North Carolina, in the Piedmont region. It lies about 7.5 miles west of Tobaccoville and roughly 18.1 miles northwest of Winston-Salem as the crow flies.
The Piedmont is rolling upland between the Appalachians and the coastal plain, with mixed oak-pine forest, farmland and expanding cities. Waterfalls mark the fall line and the rocky beds of rivers crossing hard crystalline rock.
It is the only recorded rapid in Yadkin County. Big Creek Falls, is about 17.5 miles away.
Bean Shoals is located at 36.2593° N, 80.5029° W. The listing is based on the USGS Geographic Names Information System, one of the sources compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey in its inventory of waterfalls and rapids of the conterminous United States.
