R B Ricketts Falls is the sixth waterfall on Glen Leigh Branch of Kitchen Creek in Ricketts Glen State Park, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, with a combined drop of about 34 feet.
The falls
The waterfall descends in three plunges measuring 10, 11 and 13 feet, based on an in-person survey. A separate, adjacent tributary drops about 20 feet nearby. Lake and marsh drainage keeps the water flowing year-round, usually lowest from late July through September.
Getting there
Ricketts Glen State Park, run by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, is open sunrise to sunset with no entrance fee. From Lake Rose, the Highland Trail runs about 0.8 mile to a junction, where the Glen Leigh Trail descends about 0.5 mile to the falls. The park's trail system includes a 7.2-mile full loop and a 3.2-mile upper loop.
When to go
Winter users need crampons, ice axes and rope, and must sign in and out.
On site
Stairs and a footbridge give views from below across steep, wet terrain. Pets must be kept under control and attended. Swimming at the falls is not documented. In May 2026, a rescue on the Falls Trail followed a reported 60-foot fall; the specific waterfall was not identified.
