Scott Falls is a 10-foot plunge waterfall in Alger County, Michigan, beside M-28 near Au Train, west of Munising. It can be seen straight from the highway, with easy access from the state roadside park across the road.
The falls
A small stream drops about 10 feet over a sandstone cliff into a small pool, falling in a single plunge where lidar data confirms the height.
Getting there
The falls are right beside M-28, east of Au Train and west of Christmas. Parking is at H.J. Rathfoot State Roadside Park across the highway, where visitors can park and view the drop. The Michigan Department of Transportation runs the park; in spring 2026 MDOT kept it closed until later in May because of snow.
When to go
In winter the falls often freeze into a curtain of ice inside a sandstone alcove, making for a quick winter stop.

History and name
Lidar imaging shows a possible former stream channel on the far side of the old Duluth, South Shore and Atlantic Railway grade, suggesting the railroad may have diverted the stream and that the falls may not be entirely natural.
