Big Falls is a stretch of rapids on New River in Montgomery County, Virginia, in the Ridge and Valley region. It lies about 5.5 miles south of Pembroke and roughly 36.6 miles west of Roanoke as the crow flies.
The Ridge and Valley is a corridor of long, parallel forested ridges and farmed limestone valleys running the length of the Appalachians. Waterfalls occur where streams cut through resistant sandstone on the ridges.
It is the only recorded rapid in Montgomery County.

The listing is based on the World Waterfall Database, one of the sources compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey in its inventory of waterfalls and rapids of the conterminous United States. The creek name is confirmed against the federal Geographic Names Information System. The position was verified on aerial imagery.
