Griffins Shoal is a stretch of rapids in Newberry County, South Carolina, in the Piedmont region. It lies about 13.8 miles northeast of Prosperity and roughly 32 miles northwest of Columbia as the crow flies.
The Piedmont is rolling upland between the Appalachians and the coastal plain, with mixed oak-pine forest, farmland and expanding cities. Waterfalls mark the fall line and the rocky beds of rivers crossing hard crystalline rock.
It is the only recorded rapid in Newberry County. Buck Shoals, is under a mile away. Powells Shoal, is about 3.2 miles away. Busbys Shoals, is about 9.6 miles away.
