The falls
Boardtree Branch drains to Firescald Creek below Greeter Falls, then on to Big Creek. The two-tier drop is put at about 50 feet total, with steps of roughly 30 and 20 feet; one other estimate gives the total closer to 35 feet. The trail here runs along a narrow rocky ledge beneath a bluff.
Getting there
Savage Gulf State Park, separated from South Cumberland State Park in 2022, gives 550 Greeter Falls Road, Altamont, as the west trailhead, with 45 parking spaces that fill by morning; fees, hours and permits are not documented. From there the Greeter Falls trailhead, off TN-56 via Greeter Falls Road, leads to a loop with optional Upper and Lower Greeter spurs continuing on to Boardtree Falls; the full Greeter Falls Loop is 1.1 miles with 246 feet of gain and is rated moderate.
When to go
Recent rainfall makes for a stronger waterfall; flow is very low or absent during dry spells.

The approach is a rocky, narrow trail high above the cove, with no wheelchair-accessible route documented. Pets must be restrained, and swimming is confined to designated areas; Savage Gulf prohibits jumping from waterfalls and warns of cliff hazards.
