Mohawk Falls is the first waterfall on Ganoga Glen Branch of Kitchen Creek in Ricketts Glen State Park, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, dropping about 29 feet.
The falls
Water plunges from an undercut ledge, spreads across a shelf, and cascades around a small wooded island. A survey done in person in 2018 and confirmed by USGS lidar puts the drop at 29 feet; park literature has given a taller figure, 37 feet, possibly including lower minor cascades. The lake-fed stream averages about 25 cubic feet per second for eight months of the year and drops to about 5 for the other four.
Getting there
Ricketts Glen State Park, managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, is open sunrise to sunset with no entrance fee. From Lake Rose, the Highland Trail leads to the Kitchen Creek bridge junction, where a 0.1-mile descent down Ganoga Glen reaches the falls. The park's trail system includes a 7.2-mile full loop and a 3.2-mile upper loop, both rated most difficult.
When to go
Winter users need crampons, ice axes and rope, and must sign in and out.

Pets must be kept under control and attended at all times. Swimming at Mohawk Falls is not documented. In May 2026, a rescue on the Falls Trail followed a reported 60-foot fall; the specific waterfall was not named.
