Oneida Falls

Oneida Falls drops 13 feet on Ganoga Glen Branch in Ricketts Glen State Park, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.

The falls

The lake-fed branch pours over a vertical block. A field measurement here once found 15 feet and lidar suggested 10 to 12 feet, but the height stands at 13 feet.

Getting there

The falls sit about half a mile one way from the Lake Rose parking area, reached via the Falls Trail junctions. The trail sections here are steep, wet and slippery. Pennsylvania state parks charge no entrance or day-use fee, and Ricketts Glen's day-use areas are staying open during planned campground upgrades.

When to go

Flow runs year-round but can become quite low from late July through September. Winter access to the Falls Trail requires proper ice equipment, and Lake Rose parking often fills during peak periods.

On site

The wet, steep rock along the Falls Trail is hazardous. Swimming is allowed only at the park's designated Lake Jean beach, subject to posted conditions.
