Adams Falls is a 38-foot, three-tier horsetail waterfall on Kitchen Creek in Ricketts Glen State Park, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
The falls
Kitchen Creek comes down in three horsetail tiers for a combined drop of about 38 feet, with the tallest single tier at 24 feet; the three tiers cannot be seen together from any one point. The creek is fed by a lake upstream and flows here year-round.
Getting there
Ricketts Glen State Park is managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, open sunrise to sunset with no entrance fee. The 1-mile Evergreen Trail loop descends from the Evergreen parking area to the falls; steps reach the top and rim, and an informal path reaches the lower tier.
On site
The Evergreen Trail is signed as suitable for children. Pets must be leashed or otherwise controlled and are barred from swimming areas, buildings, and other posted areas throughout the park.
History and name
The official name honors Adam Kale, a former watchman on the Ricketts estate.
