Shingle Cabin Falls is a 45-foot waterfall on Shingle Cabin Creek in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, part of Ricketts Glen State Park's Falls Trail system.
The falls
A lidar survey now puts the single drop at about 45 feet, up from the roughly 25 feet recorded earlier. The creek is part of the park's wider waterfall system, which counts 21 named falls ranging from 11 to 94 feet.
Getting there
Ricketts Glen's Falls Trail system reaches the waterfall over rocky terrain, either on the 3.2-mile loop that covers most of the park's falls or the full 7.2-mile loop. Lake Rose has the closest general parking for the Falls Trail; approaches from the beach or Pennsylvania Route 118 are longer. Pennsylvania state parks charge no entrance or day-use fee.
When to go
The Falls Trail closes in winter except to hikers and ice climbers equipped for the conditions.

The trail is steep, rocky and slippery, and the park warns it can be hazardous. Modern restrooms, picnic areas and benches are available at the main Falls Trail area.
