Kitchen Creek Falls drops about 9 feet on Kitchen Creek, directly beneath the Route 118 bridge in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
The falls
The creek makes a single plunge under the bridge. A lidar-based survey supports a range of roughly 8 to 10 feet for the drop, after an in-person measurement attempt in 2018 could not pin down an exact figure. Above the falls, Kitchen Creek Gorge descends about 1,000 feet over a little more than two miles, cutting through resistant sandstone and softer sedimentary layers.
Getting there
The falls can be viewed from the northeast side of the Route 118 bridge or from the nearby Evergreen parking area. A fee, permit, or wheelchair-accessible route specific to the falls is not documented.
When to go
The creek flows year-round, running lowest from late July through September. It is worth checking current alerts for the surrounding Ricketts Glen area before a visit.
