Red Gulch Falls is a 280-foot waterfall on Red Gulch in Garfield County, Colorado, in the Colorado Plateaus region. It lies about 10.1 miles northwest of Parachute and roughly 41.5 miles northeast of Grand Junction as the crow flies.
At 280 feet it stands in the tallest quarter of Colorado’s 162 waterfalls with a recorded height, ranking 22nd; the typical Colorado waterfall is about 65 feet. By form it is a plunge, where the water drops vertically and loses contact with the rock face.
The Colorado Plateaus are a high desert of layered sandstone mesas, canyons and plateaus with pinyon-juniper woodland and sagebrush. Waterfalls here are often seasonal, spilling over sandstone ledges after storms or snowmelt.
