Loves Shoals is a stretch of rapids in Kershaw County, South Carolina, in the Piedmont region. It lies about 7.1 miles north of Lugoff and roughly 29.9 miles northeast of Columbia as the crow flies.
The Piedmont is rolling upland between the Appalachians and the coastal plain, with mixed oak-pine forest, farmland and expanding cities. Waterfalls mark the fall line and the rocky beds of rivers crossing hard crystalline rock.
It is the only recorded rapid in Kershaw County. Aldrichs Shoal, a historical rapids rapid, is about 16 miles away.
