The falls
A rock tongue splits the flow into a segmented cascade. The creek here is fed by a lake and runs year-round.
Getting there
Two approaches reach the falls: about 1.8 miles one way from Lake Rose, or 1.3 miles upstream from Pennsylvania Route 118. The Falls Trail sections here are steep, wet and slippery. Pennsylvania state parks charge no entrance or day-use fee, and Ricketts Glen's day-use areas are staying open during planned campground upgrades.
When to go
The creek runs year-round. Winter access to the Falls Trail requires proper ice equipment, and Lake Rose parking often fills during peak periods.
On site
The wet, steep rock along the Falls Trail is hazardous. Swimming is allowed only at the park's designated Lake Jean beach, subject to posted conditions.
History and name
Murray Reynolds Falls is also known as Pulpit Falls. The name honors G. Murray Reynolds (1838-1904), an advocate for preserving the glen.
